I recently REconnected with a dear friend who I have known since we were babies, litterally!
We grew up across the street from each other and played together for many years before she had to move away to Florida.
Elizabeth, whos grandparents lived across the street from my family also, disappeared from my life for over 40 years.
Recently connecting once again with her on Facebook through her family who I had stayed i touch with over the years.
"Liz" came back to Indiana this past weekend to visit family and friends and we hung out for a day and it was a BLAST!
There was NO pretense or expectations by either of us, just the craving to have ALOT of fun.
Since Indianapolis had changed SO Much over the years, I was, of course, her tourguide.
We started off with lunch at a small diner where her mother and aunt had worked many years ago.
Then we decided to go to the HEART of the city and take a view from the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument located in the exact center of downtown.
Liz remembered it being ALOT larger, as ALL children see it.
Its a great view from the top and I pointed out some of the new buildings and old landmarks.
Then we drove up Meridian street to see some of the many monuments and incredible buildings.
Our next "stop" was at the Canal Walk so she could see one of MY favorite downtown attractions.
We walked and talked and sat for awhile discussing other things she might like to see.
After deciding, we headed for the largest cemetary in the US, Crown Hill Cemetary.
There I showed her the graves of John Dillinger and James Whitcomb Riley, but we werent paying much attention to the time.
It turns out the gates are locked at 8pm sharp, so guess who was LOCKED IN THE CEMETARY?!!
Thats right, and it just added to the adventure!
I called a friend who looked up the number for the cemetary office and I started calling.
It was a normal business phone with MANY extensions and MANY voicemails.
FINALLY I contacted an actual living, breathing human being!
It was their answering service who called the manager of the cemetary who in turn called ME!
"This is ----, and you are locked i the cemetary?"
I said "yes".
"What gate are you close to?"
I again replied with "the one just north of 38th street".
She replied with a "I will call security" and hung up.
So I decided to stretch my legs and walked to the gate and peered through the bars.
it was starting to get very dark......
Just then, and much to HIS surprise, a kid came flying up to the gate on his bicycle only to SCREAM, turn around quickly, and leave, screaming all the way!
(I bet hes STILL trying to speak regular sentences)
I lost it and started laughing even more than before when all this started.
Liz hadnt stopped laughing and was calling EVERYONE she knew telling them what we had done.
We were STILL laughing when security arrived about 30 minutes later.
It was a VERY fun day and we are planning another get together tomorrow (thursday)
I dont know if we can top THAT adventure, but we sure will try!
Liz said I sure know how to show a gal a HOWLING good time!

by Feb. 18, he would be subject to a citation and a court appearance. But Assistant Village Manager Keith Sbiral said that what Gately received was only a warning ticket. "It's just a warning ticket, it's not even going to go to court," Sbiral said. "At this point, we're not going to comment because we don't even know if there is a violation. Gately maintains his antennas are protected under a Federal Communications Commission law, and that the code he was said to be in violation of was a village satellite dish ordinance. At this point, village officials are just trying to get in contact with Gately. "He hasn't bothered to call me or the village to talk about it, though I have reached out to him," Sbiral said.
